Background~
Mei Ayumi was born to a somewhat noble Shou family of sages. Ayumi also followed in her parents footsteps and at a young age read through many of the manuscripts and study scrolls written by her parents. As her family was of somewhat noble status, she was sheltered from a young age and never really had anyone to talk to besides her parents but even then she would rather lock herself in her room and read. Ayumi would rarely talk at any of the noble parties that her parents brought her to . . . she would simply nod and make facial expressions when approached by nobles she didn't know. The only time anyone could hear Ayumi's voice was when she would softly read out the words written in the texts she was reading. As she really disliked talking to others, she learned to always carry ink and parchment paper with her. She substituted talking with notes that she would write and show to whoever she needed to communicate with.
When Ayumi turned 10, her parents showed her a trinket that they had found. This trinket was in the shape of a brass orb etched with strange runes. As they were already busy researching many other things, they thought that Ayumi would perhaps be able to unlock the secrets potentially hidden within the trinket so they gave it to her. Ayumi was extremely fascinated by this trinket . . . how it was shrouded in mystery. Ayumi kept learning more and more through her parents' manuscripts until it was her 16th birthday. Ayumi decided that she was ready to begin solving the puzzle of the brass orb but she would soon learned that there are a lot of things that are out of reach for someone so young. Ayumi had been slowly learning how to speak the Draconic language from her parents and the many different texts that they had. When she turned 16, she thought that she could learn more about the trinket by asking a dragon as they live for many, many years and possibly know many of the world's secrets.
Ayumi began on her adventure to look for people who knew about dragons and that was when she met a kobold bard named Yibzol who she noticed was singing in the middle of a city. She slowly walked up to the kobold and when she was just a couple of feet in front of him she burst into laughter. There were nothing but boos from the crowd yet the kobold had a huge grin on his face . . . it was as though he thought that the crowd was actually enjoying his awful singing. Ayumi was intrigued by this little kobold as it was the first time Ayumi had seen one before since she seldom left her house. She quickly scribbled onto a piece of parchment and showed the tiny kobold. 「 You look like you were having fun . . . although you're probably misunderstanding the situation. My name is Ayumi, it's a pleasure to meet you 」 Yibzol looked up at Ayumi and noticed the shine from the trinket in her pocket and began erratically yelling "Shiny!" and pointing at Ayumi's trinket so she wrote him a small note explaining what it was. 「 That shiny object that you're pointing at is a trinket given to me by my parents. I'm trying to form a party that will help me locate a dragon so that I can ask it if it knows anything about the trinket 」 At the mention of dragons, Yibzol's eyes lit up like the shiny trinket that he couldn't take his eyes off. "Yibzol knows! Yibzol knows! Yibzol friends with dragon! Yip Yip! Yibzol can take friend to dragon to ask questions! Yibzol loves shinies! Yip!".
At first Mei was skeptical of Yibzol's claim but she soon felt that there was no reason to not take him up on his offer as she was the one who would be talking to the dragon. It took a couple of days for the duo to pack up and the trip to the dragon would take them another two or three days. On the last day before they would arrive while Ayumi was asleep, Yibzol sneakily took her trinket and continued along the path towards the dragon. Just as he was leaving, he dropped the trinket before he picked it back up and quietly walked away. BANG . . . the noise from the dropped trinket woke Ayumi from her sleep and as she gently rubbed her eyes she could make out the outline of Yibzol carrying her trinket so she quickly packed her things and followed him. Half a day later, Yibzol reached the dragon with Ayumi following closely behind him but out of his view. "Yibzol has brought dragon great shiny! Look! Look!". The dragon's eyes widened when it saw the trinket. It was at this moment that Ayumi ran out from behind her cover and showed the dragon the note she had written asking for its help. After reading her note, the dragon laughed. "This trinket belongs to you? It belongs to me! Serelath the Black Dragon!". Ayumi gasped at the name "Serelath the Black Dragon", black dragons are the most vile-tempered and cruel of all chromatic dragons, apart from the fact that they love to bargain. The Crystal Dragon then spat a line of acid around itself and gave Ayumi a final message before it flew off into the sky. "If one day you are able to clash with me and defeat me in battle then I may give you back your trinket." The image of the dragon surrounded by corroding land was etched forever into Ayumi's memory.
Furious, Ayumi hit the stupid kobold with whatever she could find while tears streamed down her face. "Yibzol is sorry! Yibzol loves shiny! Shiny! Shiny! Stop hitting Yibzol! Yibzol will do whatever human want! Yip!". As soon as Yibzol said that, Ayumi threw a note at him. 「 You will help me find the dragon someday so that I can reclaim my trinket or I'll kill you!」 Ayumi knew that she needed power to battle Serelath and she had read lots of texts on Warlocks. She knew that they required
